I have a question, I am a single father of two boys ages
5 and 8. I had custody of my sons from October 2007 to August 2008. I received custody of my sons do to the fact that their mother (who was living with her mother) would not keep a job, was taking the child support money and not spending it on our sons, and she just was not supporting our sons independently. Needless to say alot of other things came out once our sons were in my custody, for example she sent our youngest son to school in clothes that smelled of urine and were visibly unclean. I later also came to find out that she was physically abusive towards our oldest son. After continuously trying to reconcile the relationship between her and our sons, I became upset during a conversation and physically assaulted her. I was arrested and charged with battery. I am currently on probation and attending a batterers intervention program. I also lost custody of our sons and have to have supervised visitation. When I do see my sons its only for about two hours, and at the convience of their grandmother, which is not that often. I went to court on January 29th 2009, to request unsupervised visitation and possibly having my sons come back and live with me. I was denied with no reason given. I do not know what to do now, I cannot afford a lawyer because of the consequences of my actions, but yet my sons continue to have to suffer being without me. My sons were not present when the altercation occured and I have never done anything to harm my sons. Please help me so I can help my sons, please.
